Welcome to my woodworking video! In this tutorial, I'll guide you through the process of crafting a stylish dresser in my workshop. Due to the extensive footage, I've decided to split the tutorial into two parts. In the first segment, I'll demonstrate how to create a sturdy frame using solid oak wood, specifically a 4m-long oak board.
To start, I'll cut the boards to size using a plunge saw. Given the board's width of 700mm and my planer's capacity of 310mm, I'll employ a milling sled to achieve an even surface. The milling sled is from the TOT company, and if you're interested in purchasing a similar tool, you can find a link in the description below.
Once the board is securely fastened to the table, I'll level one side, then flip it over to repeat the process on the other side. After leveling, I'll fill any natural cracks or voids with epoxy resin. Once the epoxy is cured, I'll use the milling sled again to remove excess resin.
For joining all frame components, I'll utilize two types of connections: one with a Festool Domino joiner and the other using dovetail joinery. I'll provide detailed insights into crafting these connections. Before gluing the frame, I'll dry-fit all the components to ensure a precise fit. Afterward, using PVA glue, I'll assemble the structure.
Following the drying process, I'll sand the surface, starting from 120-grit and progressing to 3000-grit sandpaper for a smooth finish. To eliminate any wood fibers during sanding, water will be applied.
For a rich, dark finish, I'll employ denatured alcohol for staining, and I'll guide you through the entire process. I hope you enjoy watching the transformation of raw materials into a beautiful piece of furniture. Feel free to leave comments, and don't forget to like and subscribe for more woodworking content! Thanks for watching!"
