3 Easy Woodworking Gift Projects to Make TODAY!

Summer is coming to a close and it’s time for woodworkers to get back into the workshop and start batching out DIY gifts, whether they’re for teachers, family, or just because we’re too cheap to buy something! Here are 3 woodworking project ideas that are easy to make, but still have a very cool “wow” factor.

Geometric Flower Pots – This is a fun woodworking project because it’s completely made up and unique. Grab a chunk of wood and cut it up in different shapes. Ideally, have those pieces fit together so the flower pots can be arranged in different ways. Don’t get caught up in the measurements. Have fun my cutting bevels and playing with visual elements. Drill a large diameter hole in each wood block and add a small plant.

Wood Notebook – Wood makes for a cool notebook cover. The wood species can have a big impact and the notebook covers can be personalized. Pick a preferred size of paper and cut two boards that are just slightly larger. Drill holes that match the holes in the paper and bound the book using leather, string, or metal rings.

Leaning Wine Rack – A mind trippy project, a leaning wine bottle rack is a cool looking project that always catches people’s eye. Determine the size board you want and lay out where you want the wine bottles. Drill holes big enough for the bottle necks. Cut the base of the rack at an angle that let’s the rack stand and remain stable. You may have to play with the angle until you find the right one.
