We all get tempted here and there to buy things, and with our incomes and budgets dictating what's possible, oftentimes we need to make choices and in this video, I want to share what to me, is the RIGHT way to make smart buying decisions so that our personal finance plan doesn't get thrown out of whack, while we simultaneously, get true fulfillment from what we choose to purchase.

4:22 - What you should do first
The question that helps me a ton is to look at a challenge and simply ask myself, "what would this look like if it were easy?" The key is to be unafraid to be as absurd as you want, for example, I hate laundry, so what would it look like if it were easy? Have a butler who does it! Of course, I can't afford a butler, but I CAN hire a neighbor who is a stay-at-home parent and is bored during the day anyways, to do my laundry once a week. The important thing is that I use those 2.5 hours saved to do things that'll enable me to earn more than I spend on their work with my laundry.
5:26 - Concept: Cost Per USE
If all else fails, I ALWAYS run this projected calculation to determine if I should buy something. Generally speaking, everything I've bought for myself, is something that I use at LEAST once a week. If it's something you'll truly use frequently, in almost every instance, it's worth buying.
I make a lot of everyday carry (EDC) videos because I really like exploring the things that I truly use every day. But a ton of things I don't CARRY with me, but are things that I get proper usage at home with 365 days a year. So perhaps, a more important thing for me to focus on sharing are not JUST everyday carry items, but more critically, everyday USE items. Thoughts?
